love life time experience mistakes

-Love (noun): an intense feeling of deep affection.

Hello everyone, like everyone’s definition of love is just completely different from one another, I figured it should be something worth talking about. It was my turn to come up with something and honestly I was bundled up by feelings, so sorry for the slight delay.

Throughout my 19 years of living I have had the chance of experience what love is. I’m gay and I’ve never had an actual boyfriend. Some people find that shocking when I tell them, but no, for some reason I’ve never had one. It’s not because I’ve never wanted one, it’s mainly because I tend to like a lot of people but there are only a few that I find myself truly compatible with. Some people flat out say that I’m just picky and I guess that in a way, I am. I’ve had a fair amount of guys after me but I always find something that I don’t like about them, something that is just not right. The ones I always like never pay any attention to me, so it hasn’t worked.

Five months ago, I met someone that sort of met the criteria of what I want out of a guy. It ended up being a total disaster, 5 months and he was lying to me the whole time. But I don’t regret a single moment, I was blindsided by a thing called love. And it was the first time I truly loved someone. I don’t take any time out of those 5 months back for anything. In the end, I learned what everyone kept saying to me “don’t make anyone your priority when you’re only their option.” among many other things. I guess it was just something I had to learn on my own. Getting out of his ‘orbit’ was when I truly realized that I loved him, that it was more than just a crush. Therefore the first time someone broke my heart.

In the “recovery process”, I met two guys. One of them, that I was just initially attracted to. The other one just a friend. Even though they didn’t notice they, just by talking to me during that time, they were unconsciously saying ‘there are better guys out there that actually want you for who you are’, ‘you are good enough’. And this time that message actually sunk in.

Playing with someone’s heart is among one of the worst things you can do to someone in my opinion. But you know what, you live, we all do. Life goes on. There are plenty more beautiful things in life than just the guy you were once obsessed with, even if at times it doesn’t seem that way.

Now I’m hopeful, like the optimist that I am. I know that at some point in my life I will meet ‘the one’. That one person that will become my mutual addiction. That soulmate that will reciprocate all the love that I’ve given to the wrong people. It could be someone whom I’ve even met already or not. With time, I shall see what the future holds. In the meantime, I’m going to keep focusing on myself and on my goals for the future. I believe everything will work itself out with time. Might be in a way I expect it to or not, but I believe it’s going to in the end.

Oil Spill BP Transocean Gulf Obama Ignorant Fail

Alright, The Gulf Oil Spill…

I keep seeing posts that summate to “ZOMG, STFU about the oil spill, you like don’t know what you’re talking about, jezzus!” As a result, I figured I would throw together a little informational about the spill itself, who, what, where, when, why, etcetera.

As for the who, what, and why:

Transocean, the world’s largest offshore drilling contractor, was in the process of drilling a new well for BP when a pressure surge resulted in a large explosion, that ultimately sunk a 560 million dollar drilling rig known as the Deepwater Horizon.

The actual explosion itself was caused by a methane bubble, that traveled from the well itself, up the drilling column, bursting through several barriers, ultimately exploding and killing 11 crewmen aboard the rig.

Incidents of this proportion are not common, at all. The last spill of this magnitude occurred over 40 years ago in Santa Barbara California. If you’re interested in a general timeline of significant spills in the past 50-60 years, a page that indexes them can be found here.

How much was spilled/is leaking?

The Coast Guard estimated initially that roughly 8,000 barrels a day of crude oil could escape the well each day that it is left unsealed. However, the federal government’s latest estimate, which is still labeled as “low”, is that 12,000 to 19,000 barrels a day are freely flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. The primary reason that the estimates are incessantly low is that the initial fine for an oil spill is $1,100 per barrel, but according to environmental reporter Kate Sheppard this fine can easily rise to $4,300 a barrel if the federal court throws the book at BP. Dan Froomkin of the Huffington Post explains that if such an instance were to occur, BP would be facing some extreme issues. Froomkin says “…at 12,000 barrels a day for 45 days — at the base fine amount — that would amount to $594 million; at 19,000 barrels, that would amount to about $940 million; at, say, 50,000 barrels, that would amount to about $2.5 billion. (And all those numbers would quadruple in case of gross negligence.) Even for BP, that’s real money. The company earned $4.4 billion in profits in 2009.”

Who is this going to effect?

As most of you already know, this spill is effecting numerous coastal areas along the Gulf, ruining coastal ecosystems, etcetera. If you want to know more about the effect upon coastal areas, you can visit places like the Huffington Post, and various other news sites. It is also being speculated that the oil may extend itself thousands of miles up the eastern coast via ocean currents.

How are they going to fix it?

I’m not interested in chronicling BP’s failures, and the subsequent political dick-waving contest, so I’ll simply let you know what the next plan is:

There you have it. The barebones of the Oil Spill situation.

Now, how I feel about this?

I feel like BP is a failure of a company; they’re far too busy pointing the finger at who is responsible the incident, rather than actually correcting the mistake. The federal government is failing equally, with their inaccurate estimates and seemingly “hands-off” policy with BP and what they are doing to solve this predicament. The effect of this catastrophe is going to be a long-lasting hardship for the coastal communities of the Southeast, troubling their economies and straining their resources.

—Cody

On top of all that has happened, what truly bothers me is who is right amongst them. The people say BP is underestimating the amount of oil that is being leaked daily and that’s plausible because they recognize they are already deep in this mess so it’s better to ‘reduce’ the information they let the public know. On the other hand, almost everyone has been deeply affected by this (except for a few that live under a rock) and I mean everyone, but it raises the question of what if they are the ones wanting to overestimate BP’s daily spill amount. Everyone’s looking at them for their screw up. Like always when someone screws up they try to exaggerate it. That’s how we are, we’re humans. While I was doing research for this I kept stumbling upon countless news about how BP underestimated their spill. I’m not saying that they didn’t. I’m saying that we should maybe focus on better topics such as HOW are they going to handle it and WHAT have they accomplished so far. I feel like that would be a lot more informative than to keep pulling BP’s hair. Everyone keeps complaining, even the government about how what BP’s doing is not enough. Well, that’s a no brainer, but then again you don’t do anything by sitting around and complaining. If you have the time to complain you have the time to contribute. Sitting around talking about how BP sucks is not going to have any effect on our planet and its inhabitants.

On another note, a good amount of us are greatly informed into the what happened and most of what you hear everywhere is that. “what happened?” The question that should be asked more properly is what is going to be done? What’s GOING to happen?

We aren’t so sure of what is going to happen and from the looks of it I find that people are avoiding that question in a way. It has affected hundreds if not millions of ecosystems have been destroyed because of this. There are plenty of horrid consequences that’s affecting our flora and fauna due to what’s happening. Our fauna is in great danger, the effect involving them ingesting or either coming in some sort of contact with the oil is dreadful. Immediate action should be taken now, as to try to protect our environment. While BP is ‘handling’ this mess with the oil, people should stand up and help conserve our wildlife, or else they are going to suffer from BP’s ineptitude.

Also, that oil is now spreading through our oceans. Can you imagine what’s going to happen now that hurricane season just started? Exactly, can you picture constant acid rain? It’s not going to be safe, that’s all I know.

In conclusion, I feel that everyone that can should take a stand and help. This has been a disaster. We can’t keep covering it and blaming someone else. We have to start helping out. I feel like just as work is being put to seal those pipes, equal work conserving the ecology should be done. And that includes somehow getting rid of the oil that’s present in the Gulf, now spreading. By conserving the ecology I mean animals, plants, humans, and everything that involves the environment. With the help of everyone we can see through this disaster. That just might be the only way.

Edit:

My lovely friend, Mari Gutierrez, sent me a link from MSNBC this morning titled “Gulf of Mexico oil spill: How to help”

Extremely good article, be sure to check it out!

Thanks, Mari!

The Human centipede movie stupid

Because girls can’t be this stupid

Cody and I decided to watch The Human Centipede; these are our thoughts:

1. They’re trying to find a club in the woods. wtf?!

2. They don’t know how to change a flat tire. FAIL!

3. They don’t even look for the directions to the place they’re going to properly. I mean, aren’t you in a foreign country?

4. The only word that they understand in German is fuck.. -.- they would.

5. Of course their cellphones wouldn’t have signal where they get lost at. but hey, that happens to everyone.

6. They go into the woods to look for help. WTF x2

7. They go into some creepy ass guy’s house. And after observing his creepiness lets him pour them a drink.. really?

8. One gets roofied up while the other one gets injected with anesthesia.. haven’t you heard of self-defense?

9. One of them escapes but decides to hide.. oh ok like that’ll save ya.

10. She opens a door and falls into a pool.. um ok!

11. They apparently never learned to run or never trust strangers

12. In conclusion, they had it coming.

-Joe

Girls,

Please God, if you break down, while lost, somewhere in the Bavarian forest, do not get out and walk deeper into the forest. Also, should you make that initial mistake, if you do find someone be sure that they are entirely normal —also, you shouldn’t feel like he/she might want to sew you into a 3-person centipede— otherwise, just turn around and walk back to the car. If you don’t, the following may occur!

(I made a little thing to break this down for you!)

Hi Ho

Joe here. As Cody said, we’re here to discuss what really is on our minds. Sort of like a commentary kind of blog but commenting on every possible topic we can think of. The Submit button is on the top of the page, so that you can give us ideas too about topics that we might want to discuss. On one day, Cody will pick the topic; the next I shall pick the topic. And it’ll keep going like this, both sharing our thoughts and sometimes a few experiences along the way. Hope you enjoy!

Hello there!

This is Cody from the newly established P&V Digest!

This tumblr is a joint effort between Mr. Joe Rivera and myself, a pisces and a virgo, in which we will comment upon various aspects of society, art, and our interests in general! The plan is:

  • Each topic posted will have commentary from both Joe and I
  • There will be at least one post a day from both of us.
  • The topics will range from things like war and politics to people, sex, and art, too.
  • We’re going to fucking make this rock!
  • Ultimately, this should be a learning experience for everybody involved!

Hope this works out!
